In the month of January, Grand Rapids Christian Middle School has taken on a giving project to support the Les Bours School of Hope and the Hope House orphanage in Cite Soleil, near Port au Prince, Haiti. The school and the associated orphanage are outreaches of the Haiti Foundation against Poverty (HFAP), with which our schools have developed a partnership in the past year or two. The recent devastating earthquake in Port au Prince has changed, however, both the focus and the urgency of this giving project. Before, we were being asked to donate non-perishable food items to stock the orphanage or money with which to buy the appliances that they would need there. Now, HFAP requests that we focus simply on raising money for the recovery efforts going on right now. Please discuss with your students this opportunity to share what God has given with those who are in the greatest need right now, and encourage them to prayerfully consider what they can contribute.
Ways to Help:
1. Bring checks to school made out to HFAP.
2. Go to any 5th/3rd bank and make a donation to the "Haiti Poverty Inc." account.
3. Go to our website at haitifoundation.com and donate there.
