Parent Partnership

We believe the best educational results are achieved when parents, teachers and students work together in a true partnership. We encourage you to become involved at every level of your child’s learning experience.

Together, we are better able to identify the learning styles, interests, and motivators of each child.

Looking for ways to get involved in your child’s education? Below are on-going opportunities at the various grade levels. For additional ways  you can help, check the weekly home bulletin, contact your PTO representative, talk with your school principal, or your child’s teacher.

Elementary Schools

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is an active organization that supports Grand Rapids Christian Schools, strengthens the bonds of fellowship among GRCS families, sponsors a variety of services and programs for students.

Some of the activities and fundraisers the PTO sponsors include:
  • Prayer support groups
  • Family nights
  • Eagle Dash
  • Field Trips
  • Teacher Support
  • Room parents

Each school needs volunteers to serve one-year terms in the PTO, and on various committees. Contact your PTO representative for opportunities at your school.

Board of Trustees

Grand Rapids Christian Schools Board of Trustees (BOT) annually seeks nominations to fill vacant three-year terms on the Board of Trustess. Trustees must possess a passion for Christian education and desire to strategically advance Grand Rapids Christian Schools' mission and vision within the greater Grand Rapids community. Trustees must meet eligibility requirements and possess desired qualities as determined annually by the board’s Nomination Committee.  More information on Board of Trustees eligibility requirements is available here.

If you feel called to serve as a member of the BOT, or if you would like to nominate an individual that meets the eligibility criteria and qualities, please contact the GRCS Central Office at 616.574.6000 or board@grcs.org

Furthering Community

A strong community is a key part of Grand Rapids Christian Schools. To support this, families that are new to the school system are paired with existing GRCS families.

The mentor family:
  • Calls the new family to welcome them
  • Attends a special GRCS welcome dinner with the new family
  • Stays in touch with the family throughout the year to see how things are going and ensure they’re aware of all the GRCS events

If you’d like to be a mentor family, contact the principal at your school.
